about ali

Ali Lorenz (they/she) is a multi-hyphenate performer living in the Midwest. An artist rooted in neuroqueer experience, DIY ethics inspire + support them through the growing pains of being human.

In both artistic and “life” work Lorenz holds values of collaboration, intersectionality, and community-building.

Their creative work embraces an inclusive and expansive definition of movement. Lorenz stacks moving images, collage, somatic visuals on top of each other; highlighting the ways we dance through other forms. Alongside art-making, they work in administration + communications.

She currently resides on the land of the Council of Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potowatomi people; stolen land known today as Chicago, llinois. www.landback.org

Recent commissions include promotional flyers + prints for Family Junket, Hello My Name Is Color Club (zine) for Color Club and a series of program inserts for Erin Kilmurrary + Kara Brody’s Knockout. Ali’s work has been presented by We/Are Collective, Short Stack Film Festival, Queer Spectra Arts Festival, and Deseret Experimental Opera.
